You Have Not Passed This Way Before
As we commemorate Graduation Sunday this week, I was reminded that in our lives, when one chapter draws to a close, another immediately follows. And almost always, that next chapter is one we had not previously experienced. Some 12 years of school under parents’ guidance flow into 4 more years away from home and parental supervision; the decision to marry brings one from many years of caring primarily for oneself to caring for and loving another; and a job decision moves one from just making money to building a career.
The common denominator in all of these is change, coupled with setting forth on a way you had not passed before. This is not a new thing; in fact, we will discover in our text this week, Joshua 3, that the people of Israel were facing the same. By reviewing how Joshua and Israel navigated this new way, we will set ourselves up for success as we navigate our own.
