A most simple but profound act occurs when a child extends a hand as an invitation and desire to be led or accompanied somewhere. In this gesture is a measure of faithful trust in the one who will be leading and at the same time a responsibility of the one leading that he/she does it well! This happened often when our boys were younger, and now we are beginning to experience this joy and responsibility again in the lives of our step grands Gabriel and Elias. 

The thought above came to mind in reading through Exodus 13 in preparation for Sunday’s message. This text speaks to “the powerful hand of the LORD” and throughout we are provided with encouragement that the Lord’s powerful hand is available to us and can be depended upon to guide, protect, and deliver us. My prayer this week has been that we all experience the many benefits of the Lord’s powerful hand which we will meditate upon this Sunday.
